Accelerated Master's Program
The Accelerated Master’s Program allows undergraduate students to pursue a Master of Science degree in Secondary Education along with Teacher Certification to be able to teach in middle school/junior high/high school in a specific subject area. Students must maintain a 3.0 overall GPA and not receive a grade lower than a “B” in any course.
This accelerated program will allow students to complete a Bachelor’s degree through the College of Arts and Sciences in the following majors: Biology, Chemistry, Economics, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, English, History, Geography, Mathematics, Physics, Political Science, Portuguese, Spanish, and Statistics while pursuing a Master’s degree in Secondary Education. Please note, this program is only open to undergraduate students in the College of Arts and Sciences.
Admission Requirements
- 3.0 GPA overall
- Have all University Genreal Education requirements satisfied
- Have at least 60 credits of coursework completed towards a Bachelor's Degree through the College of Arts and Sciences
- Complete an online application that includes
- Official transcript
- Personal statement
- Letter of recommendation from university professor
- Apply during the junior year
- By February of your second semester of your senior year apply for the AMP program via the graduate admissions application and Transition to Teaching Program
