Education is all about new experiences, and O'Neill offers several ways to gain different perspectives while remaining an IU Indianapolis student:
Study abroadBoth O'Neill and IU Indianapolis offer opportunities to study abroad, and offer scholarships to help you do so! O'Neill’s Overseas Education Programs are detailed here, and IU Indianapolis’s offerings can be found here. Most O'Neill students who are accepted into an O'Neill study abroad program will be awarded an O'Neill Overseas Education Scholarship. Awards range from $1000 to $2000. Additional scholarships are also available. Please visit O'Neill's scholarships page.

Study in Washington, DCO'Neill offers the Washington Leadership Program in Washington, DC during the spring and fall semesters. Junior and senior undergraduate students from all majors at all IU campuses are eligible to apply. This program consists of two senior-level seminars (each worth 3 credit hours) and an internship (worth 5-6 credit hours). Students complete internships by working four days per week at a congressional office, trade association or federal agency, or at a health, environmental or nonprofit organization.
Study at other universitiesIU Indianapolis participates in National Student Exchange (NSE), a nonprofit education consortium that allows students to spend a summer, a semester or an academic year at one of the nearly 200 NSE institutions in the U.S., Canada or U.S. territories. Students pay tuition and fees at IU Indianapolis rates even while they are on exchange, and all course credits transfer back to IU Indianapolis. To qualify, students must:
- Have completed 24 credit hours
- Have a GPA of 2.5 or higher
- Be a full-time student at IU Indianapolis.

Take a course at another IU campus and transfer credits to IU IndianapolisSelect the IU campus that you plan to attend. Make sure the courses you plan to take are being offered. Complete an intercampus transfer form with the IU campus you plan to attend. Once you have registered and completed your courses, they should appear on your IU Academic Advising Report. If you are unsure how a course will transfer to IU Indianapolis, contact IU Indianapolis Admissions at 317-274-4591 or the Intercampus Transfer website. Check with your academic advisor to ensure the class you want to take will fulfill a requirement in your major.
