Introduction
The study of history prepares students to understand our changing world. Department of History (HIST) courses cover a wide range of issues in all time periods and parts of the world. History majors learn how individuals, groups, and societies change over time, and also how we understand and analyze these changes. The history major develops skills that are essential for any career: research, analysis, synthesis, and effective writing.
