Bachelor of Science in Education/French

The Bachelor of Science in Education with a specialization in French Education prepares secondary education graduates to teach French for grades 5-12. The program is aligned with the developmental standards for both the middle school/junior high and high school levels as defined by the Indiana Department of Education. A license in this area requires the completion of specified general-education courses, professional education courses, and content area courses for a minimum total of 120 credit hours for the Bachelor of Science degree.

Programs are aligned to standards for the related Special Professional Associations (SPAs).


Academic Advising

College policy on advising requires that students meet with their academic advisors at least once each year, and in some departments, prior to each semester’s to enrollment. Advising holds are placed on all School of Education students prior to advance registration and are released following advising appointments. Students receiving the Bachelor of Science in Education, Secondary Education (French) must complete 120 total credit hours including:

  • EDUC-F 201 Exploring the Personal Demands of Teaching: Laboratory Experience (2 cr.); AND
    EDUC-F 202 Exploring the Personal Demands of Teaching: Field Experience (1 cr.)
    Fundamental Literacies: Oral Communication requirement
  • MATH-M 111 Mathematics in the World; OR
    MATH-M 118 Finite Mathematics
    Fulfills Fundamental Literacies: Quantitative Reasoning requirement

  • An overall GPA of 2.75 is required for admission into the Teacher Education Program (TEP).
  • Students must successfully complete  EDUC-F 100, EDUC-P 250, EDUC-Q 200, EDUC-W 200 to be eligible to enroll in Foundations II courses.
  • Students must complete the requirements of Checkpoint 1 prior to acceptance into the Teacher Education Program.
  • All courses are 3 credit hours, unless otherwise noted.
