Latin American and Caribbean Studies
Minor in Latin American and Caribbean Studies
Students should develop their minor in consultation with their respective departmental advisors and the undergraduate advisor of the Latin American and Caribbean Studies Program. Students may elect to complete the minor or the certificate but not both.
Required Courses
The minor comprises at least 15 credit hours of course work within the College of Arts and Sciences related to the Latin American and Caribbean region, including the L210–L211 sequence and at least 6 credit hours at the 300–400 level. In order to complete the minor, students must also meet the College Foreign Language requirement with one of the following languages: Spanish, Portuguese, Haitian Creole, Quechua, or Yucatec Maya. Any course in which the student receives a grade below C– may not be used to fulfill a minor requirement.
A maximum of 6 credit hours in a student's major may be credited toward the minor in Latin American and Caribbean Studies.
