Curriculum
Prerequisites
Before admission into the program students must complete the “required” prerequisites listed below. Prerequisites must be taken at a regionally accredited college or university with verification of grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.00 scale (C). Courses must be completed by July 1 for those staring in the fall term or by January 1 for those starting in the spring term.
Required
- Chemistry, 3 credits
- Biology, 3 credits
- College Mathematics (Algebra or higher), 3 credits
Recommended
- English Composition, 3 credits
- Speech Communication, 3 credits
- Analytical or Statistical Course (Statistics Preferred), 3 credits
- Cultural Understanding Elective, 3 credits
- Arts/Humanities Elective, minimum 3 credits or 6 credits total
- Social Science Elective, minimum 3 credits or 6 credits total
- Life and Physical Sciences Electives (Preferred Human Biology or Human Anatomy/Physiology), additional 6 credits
NOTE: Students interested in the AS in Histotechnology should chose course from the recommended list that will count towards the IU School of Medicine’s degree requirements, specifically those categorized as the General Education Core. Approved courses that meet the General Education core can be found at this section of the University College website.
Professional Program
Paired didactic and practicum courses must be taken concurrently. Courses are offered and must be completed in sequence. Students are registered for classes in each term as follows:
