Special Credit Opportunities

Special Credit and Credit for Prior Learning

Special credit may be awarded to degree-seeking IU Indianapolis students who possess, by previous education or experience, a background in a discipline represented by an IU Indianapolis program. Each school and many disciplines have different policies that define how these mechanisms apply to students seeking credit.

Test Credit

IU Indianapolis award credit for the following exams.  See Admissions for minimum scores.

  • Advanced Placement (AP);
  • International Baccalaureate (IB);
  • College Level Examination Program (CLEP);
  • Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support Programs (DANTES);
  • Cambridge International A-level and AS-level;
  • Additional examinations can be accepted as determined by disciplinary faculty, such as those by the American Council on Education (ACE) recommendations and validated competencies.
