Internships
An internship is academically recognized, experiential learning that integrates knowledge and theory learned in the classroom with practical application and skills development in a professional setting. Internships provide opportunities for students to gain valuable experience and to demonstrate learning as they make professional connections and validate their choice of career field and work environment. Students who wish to be competitive for full-time employment after graduation need to complete at least one internship during college. Data from the IU Indianapolis First Destination Survey show that graduates who completed an internship were more likely to be working in a field related to their major and earning higher starting salaries.
