Admission

International Students

Step-by-step application information for undergraduate international students, including links to academic program information and the online application is available through the IU Indianapolis Office of International Affairs at http://iapply.iupui.edu/.

IU Indianapolis carefully reviews each application for its individual merits and qualities. In particular, IU Indianapolis considers factors that emphasize academic performance and preparation, the strength and quality of the high school curriculum, recent grade trends, and class rank.

IU Indianapolis uses the following standards when making admission decisions:

  • You must have completed or will complete secondary school by the time of enrollment;
  • Though no grade point average guarantees admission to IU Indianapolis, we look for applicants who have demonstrated a "B" average (above average marks), with strong grades in math and science;
  • Competitive programs may require additional qualifications for direct admission;
  • SAT or ACT exam scores are not required for admission; however, they are required for most of our scholarships;
  • You must meet IU Indianapolis’ English language Proficiency standards.

Secondary school programs should have included study of a student's native language, English or other foreign languages, mathematics, natural and/or physical science, humanities, and social sciences.

Regardless of the admission category, all undergraduate students participate in the University College Orientation program, advising, and support services as part of a comprehensive orientation program coordinated for international students by the Office of International Affairs. The goal of these programs is to ensure a successful transition to IU Indianapolis.
