The Criminal Justice degree program delivers the following student learning outcomes:

2. Explain the contributions of important figures in criminology and criminal justice.

3. Describe historical trends in criminological theory, criminal justice policies, and crime control efforts.

4. Describe the organizational structure of courts, corrections, and policing organizations.

5. Explain the legal, organizational, psychological, and socio-cultural factors impacting criminal justice decision-making.

6. Assess the impact of the criminal justice system on different racial groups, ethnicities, genders, and socioeconomic classes.

7. Explain the different methods used to measure crime and victimization including their strengths and weaknesses.

8. Explain the different methodological approaches used in criminal justice research as well as their strengths and weaknesses.

9. Apply the different theoretical frameworks to explain criminal behaviors.

10. Explain major crime control efforts including their strengths and weaknesses.
