Student Learning Outcomes
Bachelor of Science in Business
The Division of Business has adopted five program learning outcomes for the Bachelor of Science in Business degree program at IU Columbus. Required courses in the BSB program provide introductions to, development of, and/or capstone experiences for at least two, and sometimes all five, learning outcomes. Proficiencies of student achievement of the five learning outcomes are measured through assignments and exams in business core courses, as well as through program assessment tools provided by an independent organization. The five BSB student learning outcomes are:
1. Core Business Concepts
Students demonstrate a solid understanding of fundamental business principles in areas including accounting, finance, marketing, management, operations, and economics.
2. Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving Skills
Students analyze complex business problems, think critically, and apply problem-solving skills to real-world situations.
3. Communication Skills
Students use written and oral communication skills for effective business communication, including presentations, reports, and interpersonal communication in diverse business settings.
4. Ethical Decision-Making
Students apply ethical principles in business contexts, making morally and socially-responsible decisions.
5. Teamwork and Collaboration
Students work effectively in teams, demonstrating leadership, conflict resolution, and collaboration skills.
