Bachelor of Arts in Women's and Gender Studies and Sociology
Program Description
The sociology degree is intended to introduce students to the intellectual and methodological perspectives and practices in Women's and Gender Studies and Sociology. The program is designed to prepare students for immediate entry into the workplace or to pursue further study in a master’s or PhD program.

Students receiving the Bachelor of Arts in Women's and Gender Studies and Sociology degree must complete 120 credits including the following.
- IU South Bend General Education Curriculum (33 cr.)
- College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Bachelor of Arts Requirements (16-26 cr.)
- Required Minor taken in any campus school or interdisciplinary program (15-18 cr.)
- Core Requirements | Foundation (18 cr.)
- Major Requirements | Advanced Coursework (15 cr.)
- Free Electives (balance of credits needed to equal 120 credit requirement)
- A minimum of 30 credit hours at the 300– or 400–level.
- The Required Minor (15-18 cr.) taken in any campus school or interdisciplinary program. Courses required for the minor must be completed with a grade of C- or higher.
- Major Requirements must be completed with a grade of C– or higher.
- Must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 for the major.
- At least 30 credit hours must be taken in residence at IU South Bend, of which at least 12 credits must be in the major at the 300– or 400–level.
- All courses are 3 credit hours, unless otherwise noted.
