The Student Body
IU Southeast is large enough to offer a comprehensive university experience, yet small enough to value individual identity. Most IU Southeast students are from southern Indiana and the metro Louisville area. Most work while going to school, many of them full time. About half receive some kind of help through the Financial Aid Office. While more than half of the student body are ‘‘traditional’’ students who come directly from high school, many others have returned to college after a number of years to upgrade skills, seek enrichment, and prepare for new careers. A reciprocity agreement between Indiana and Kentucky allows Kentucky residents from Jefferson, Meade, Oldham, Bullitt, and Trimble counties to attend IU Southeast for in-state tuition rates.
