Student Learning Outcomes
Schools and departments at IUPUI have developed student learning outcomes for their student learning experiences. Student learning outcomes are statements that specify what students will know, be able to do, or be able to demonstrate as a result of successful completion of the experience. Outcomes are usually expressed as knowledge, skills, attitudes or values. They are often used as foundations for student assessments.

Job Placement
According to a recent master’s student alumni report, nearly 90% of alumni reported full-time employment, with the most prominent places of employment reported as educational institutions, healthcare organizations, and large corporations.
In a recent survey of IUPUI alumni who graduated with their doctoral degree, 15% indicated they would go on to postdoctoral study, and over one half indicated they secured employment. Of those who secured employment, more than half indicated they joined the academy and nearly one-third of respondents identified careers in industry/business.
Professional Development Opportunities
Graduate students are given the opportunity to participate in professional/career development opportunities such as Preparing Future Faculty and Professionals (PFFP) which engages current IUPUI graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in a full range of career options, responsibilities, and mentoring for careers in academia or industry through year-round programming. PFFP includes numerous workshops/events, networking opportunities, and co-programming with the IUPUI Graduate Mentoring Center.
