The Department of Mechanical and Energy Engineering offers programs at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels. At the bachelor's level, programs described here lead to the Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (B.S.M.E.), the Bachelor of Science in Energy Engineering (B.S.E.E.N.), and the Bachelor of Science in Engineering (B.S.E.), an interdisciplinary degree. Students enrolled in the department study under faculty actively engaged in research in a variety of areas: advanced materials, biomechanics, combustion, composites, computational fluid dynamics, computer-aided design, control, experimental mechanics, fluid mechanics, finite element methods, fracture, heat transfer, manufacturing, renewable energy, battery technology, fuel cell technology, mechatronics, hybrid electric vehicles technology, robotics, solid and structural mechanics, turbomachinery, and vibration.
