The Department of Human-Centered Computing is interdisciplinary and the areas of study focus on the design, and broader implications of computing technology in different social, cultural, political, and organizational contexts. They explore creative ideas, theories, and modern technologies that enhance our understanding of the complex and increasingly influential relationships between people and computing.
Human-Computer Interaction is the branch of informatics that studies and supports the design, development, and implementation of humanly usable and socially acceptable information technologies.
Media Arts and Science is an applied program emphasizing digital media to communicate, educate, engage, or entertain with a focus on the fundamentals of communication, digital storytelling, multimedia design, development and production. The Media Arts and Science program has both undergraduate and graduate degree programs.
The Informatics undergraduate program integrates principles of computer science, information systems design, psychology and sociology in a curriculum tailor-made for the next generation of computing professionals. Thinking big picture, building strong technical skills as well as understanding how we use technology to communicate, work, heal and play and solve problems that are facing society and industry.
