Bachelor of Science in Business

The Division of Business at IU Columbus has established five key learning outcomes for the Bachelor of Science in Business program. Our required courses introduce, develop, and culminate these outcomes, ensuring comprehensive coverage. We measure student proficiency through assignments, exams, and independent program assessments.

The five program student learning outcomes are:

1. Core Business Concepts

Students demonstrate a solid understanding of fundamental business principles in areas including accounting, finance, marketing, management, operations, and economics.

2. Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving Skills

Students analyze complex business problems, think critically, and apply problem-solving skills to real-world situations.

3. Communication Skills

Students use written and oral communication skills for effective business communication, including presentations, reports, and interpersonal communication in diverse business settings.

4. Ethical Decision-Making

Students apply ethical principles in business contexts, making morally and socially responsible decisions.

5. Teamwork and Collaboration

Students work effectively in teams, demonstrating leadership, conflict resolution, and collaboration skills.

The learning outcomes offer several key benefits:
