Academic Unit Dismissal and IUB Dismissal
Academic Unit Dismissal – An undergraduate student on Academic Alert or Academic Watch can be academically dismissed by their academic unit if the student does not return to good academic standing by the end of the next semester in which the student is enrolled.
- Students will be dismissed from the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing and Engineering if their term grade point average is below 2.0 or their cumulative Luddy grade point average is below 2.0 and they have had a previous Academic Alert or Academic Watch while in the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing and Engineering
- Students will be notified in writing that they have been dismissed from their academic unit and will be adminstratively withdrawn from all classes registered.
- The academic unit will notify the student and the Office of Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education (OVPUE) of the student's dismissal.
- Students must sit out a full term from Luddy School of Informatics, Computing and Engineering and will be directed to the Office of Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education (OVPUE).
- Students will communicate directly with OVPUE while on academic unit dismissal.
- Students who wish to return to the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing and Engineering must submit a petition for readmission. See the readmission page for details on the readmission process.
Indiana University – Bloomington (IUB) Dismissal - An undergraduate student who:
- has been dismissed from their academic unit;
- is not eligible for another major; and
- has a cumulative GPA below a 2.000; will be academically dismissed from IUB by OVPUE. IUB dismissal appears on the advising record and not on the student’s transcript.
