Academic Unit Dismissal and IUB Dismissal

Academic Unit Dismissal – An undergraduate student on academic alert can be academically dismissed by their academic unit if the student does not return to good academic standing by the end of the next semester in which the student is enrolled. 

  • Students will be dismissed from the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing and Engineering if their semester grade point average is below 2.0 and their cumulative Luddy grade point average is below 2.0 and they have had a previous Academic Alert while in the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing and Engineering
  • Students will be notified in writing that they have been dismissed and will be adminstratively withdrawn from all classes registered. 
  • The academic unit will notify the student and the Office of Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education (OVPUE) of the student’s dismissal. The notification will include information about campus advising or other relevant resources.

 

Indiana University – Bloomington (IUB) Dismissal - An undergraduate student who: 

  •      has been dismissed from their academic unit; 
  •     is not eligible for another major; and 
  •    has a cumulative GPA below a 2.000; will be academically dismissed from IUB by OVPUE. IUB dismissal appears on the advising record and not on the student’s transcript.
