Academic Unit Dismissal
Academic Unit Dismissed students must petition for readmission into the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering. Students on Academic Unit Dismissal will work with the Office of Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education (OVPUE) to obtain a petition for readmission. The petition can be found here.
A petition for readmission must be filed by July 15 for fall, November 15 for spring, and April 15 for summer readmission. A student who has been dismissed by an academic unit may be eligible to return to school after being out of school for one regular term (summer sessions do not count), and have petitioned successfully.
Upon completion of the petition with OVPUE, a member of the OVPUE staff will review the petition. If approved by OVPUE, the petition will route to Luddy where the department Director of Undergraduate Studies (DUGS) will review the peition for final approval.
If approved, the Luddy DUGS will contact the undergraduate Academic Operations Office and undergraduate Advising Office who will term activate the student and refer them to schedule an appointment with their academic advisor.
Students whose petitions are denied will not be allowed to register.
IUB Academic Dismissal
An undergraduate student academically dismissed from IUB may seek reinstatement to IUB and an academic unit through OVPUE. OVPUE will coordinate with the relevant academic unit. The academic unit will determine eligibility for reinstatement under the unit’s criteria. Information on the IUB Academic Dismissal process can be found here.
