About Professional Educational Services

The Master of Science (M.S.) in Education/Educational Leadership prepares individuals for leadership responsibilities in schools and school districts in the North Central Indiana and Southern Michigan region. The program provides candidates with supervision and guidance while completing corporation-driven practicum and clinical experiences.

The Educational Leadership program has been nationally recognized by the National Educational Leadership Preparation (NELP) and the Educational Leadership Constituent Council (ELCC) until Fall 2027. NELP and ELCC are specialized professional associations that offers accreditation recognition for exemplary programs in educational leadership. As a mechanism for improving educational leadership programs at IU South Bend, the program faculty members have aligned their current course curricular requirements and performance-based assessment system with these rigorous professional standards. In this system, candidates in educational leadership will have to demonstrate mastery of the NELP and ELCC standards and an internship through assessment or evaluation artifacts that address the NELP standards.

Students may only transfer six credit hours of coursework at the graduate level.
