About the Bachelor of Science in Education, Secondary Education (Mathematics)
The Bachelor of Science in Education in Secondary Education Mathematics prepares graduates to teach a broad range of mathematics in grades 5-12. The program is aligned with the developmental and pedagogical standards for both the middle school/junior high and high school levels as defined by the Indiana Department of Education.
Programs are aligned to standards for the related Special Professional Associations (SPAs).
Academic Advising
College policy on advising requires that students meet with their academic advisors at least once each year, and in some departments, prior to each semester’s to enrollment. Advising holds are placed on all School of Education students prior to advance registration and are released following advising appointments. Students receiving the Bachelor of Science in Education, Secondary Education (Mathematics) must complete 120 total credit hours including:

- An overall GPA of 2.75 is required for admission into the Teacher Education Program (TEP).
- Students must successfully complete EDUC-P 250, EDUC-Q 200, EDUC-W 200, and pass the CASA Basic Skills Examination to be eligible to enroll in Foundations II courses.
- Students must complete the requirements of Checkpoint 1 prior to acceptance into the Teacher Education Program.
