Minor in Communication Studies: Theatre
The minor in Theatre provides knowledge and skills as the basis for further study in acting, theatre directing, playwriting, educational theatre, applied theatre, and theatre-based facilitation. As part of Communication Studies course work the Theatre minor assists students in enhancing such competencies as critical inquiry, creative problem solving, media and message design, oral performance, relational interaction, and cultural communication in a unique and artistically integrated way
A minor in Theatre (COMM) requires:
- completion of properly distributed credit hour requirements for the baccalaureate degree in effect when the student was admitted to their home school,
- completion of 15 credit hours in the minor, with a minimum grade of C in each course,
- 6 credits must be 300/400 level,
- 9 credits must be completed at IUPUI,
- to declare the minor, complete the School of Liberal Arts online declaration form: https://liberalarts.iupui.edu/admissions/declare-major.html
- Communication Studies majors cannot complete this minor.
Minor Requirements:
- COMM-T 130: Introduction to Theatre (3 cr.)
12 additional credit hours elected from the following:
- Any COMM-T course
- COMM-G 391: Seminar (1-3 cr.) (Theatre-relevant topics only; Department approval required)
- COMM-G 300: Independent Study (1-8 cr.) (Department approval required)
