Orientation

All new students and transfer students beginning at IUPUI for their first degree-seeking semester must attend the Student Orientation Program, which has two specially designed programs. The first is a two-day orientation for new first-year students and transfer students who will be transferring in less than 18 credit hours. An overview of the campus community and resources are provided to students. They also receive information about the school or program in which they are interested, receive support and guidance from current IUPUI students, meet with an academic advisor, register for classes, participate in several interactive information sessions, and receive their student ID card (the CrimsonCard).

The second program offered is for students transferring in more than 18 credit hours, adult students, and veteran students. These students must complete the Jaguar Launch online experience prior to participating in the transition orientation program. At orientation, students learn about the IUPUI community, have the opportunity to meet with their academic school, participate in a technology session, take a campus tour, and get their student ID card (the CrimsonCard). Following the completion of Jaguar Launch and the orientation program, students may schedule an appointment with their academic advisor and register for classes.

Students are required to obtain their technology account before attending orientation (see Office of Admissions materials). They also must pay a new student fee that is assessed to all students who are beginning their first semester in a degree-seeking program, including intercampus transfers and students seeking a second degree. The fee is not contingent on participation in the program. Students participating in the two-day orientation will also be assessed an overnight charge for this program.

Reservations are required. For more information or to schedule an orientation session, please go online at welcome.iupui.edu or call (317) 274-4240.
