A minor in private security will provide students the foundation necessary to pursue careers in the field through knowledge of both evidence-based practices, theoretical concepts and the practice of skills needed to protect people, physical property, intellectual property, and information technology Students must complete a minimum of 15 credit hours including three foundation classes and two electives with a grade of C- or higher in each course. 

The Following Courses are Required of all Private Security Minors:

• CJHS-J 204 Introduction to Private Security (3 cr.)
• CJHS-J 309 Critical Issues in Private Security (3 cr.)
• CJHS-J 405 Foundations of Security Management (3 cr.)

Criminal Justice Electives. Choose two of the following courses:

• CJHS-J 205 Cyber Crime (3 cr.)
• CJHS-J 206 Crime Prevention (3 cr.)
• CJHS-J 275 Introduction to Emergency Management (3 cr.)
• CJHS-J 307 Private Security in Action (3 cr.)
• CJHS-J 431 Security and Emergency Management Disney Style
