Creative Writing Minor

The Creative Writing Minor allows students to develop the necessary skills to write original poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, drama, or screenwriting. Students engage in both the critical analysis and creative practice of writing that hone their self-expression, artistic technique, and modes of communication. These are all desirable skills that will complement any primary field of study. The Creative Writing Minor also provides a space for students who are looking for a way to stimulate their creativity.  

The minor consists of 15 credit hours including: 

Core Courses: (required) (9 cr.)

  • ENG-W 206 Introduction to Creative Writing (3 cr.) 
  • ENG-W 301 Fiction Writing (3 cr.) 
  • ENG-W 303 Poetry Writing (3 cr.)
