Washington Leadership Program

IU’s School of Public and Environmental Affairs proudly offers the Washington Leadership Program each fall and spring semester in Washington, D.C. The Washington Leadership Program is a unique opportunity for talented undergraduate students to receive in-depth exposure to key policy makers and government officials in our nation’s capital. Juniors and Seniors from all majors on the Bloomington campus and SPEA majors at other IU campuses are eligible to apply. This program consists of two senior-level seminars (each worth 3 credit hours) and an internship (worth 6 credit hours). Students complete internships by working four days per week in an assigned congressional or senate office, trade association, or federal agency, or in a health, environmental, or nonprofit organization.

Housing is arranged for participants in Washington, DC. Tuition is based on the regular fees for Indiana University. Students in the program remain eligible for any scholarships or financial aid they would normally receive as Indiana University students. Interested students should visit the WLP website at www.iuindc.indiana.edu for more information and to apply.
