Course Requirements 

The program requires 30 credit hours of study mixing course work and research credits. Each student will be enrolled in 12 credit hours for each semester of the academic year, and a capstone project for 6 credit hours will complete the requirements. 

In the first semester, each student will be required to take the core course and fulfill competency requirements in the general areas of Computation and Optimization, Solid State and Nano-engineering, and Management and Entrepreneurship. Competency in each of these areas can be demonstrated by taking one of several possible courses outlined below or by enrolling in a guided research project with a faculty member.

Research 

Students will choose from a broad range of research areas in physics, chemistry, computer science, engineering, mathematics, and business applications.  Students must complete 12 credit hours of research.  A further 6 hours must be completed in a capstone project involving research on a QIS topic supervised by the student’s advisor. The capstone will consist of a written report to be reviewed by the advisor, track manager, and the program director.
