Core Courses, Medical Humanities Graduate Certificate (6 cr.):

  • MHHS, M501 The Human Condition, 3 cr. - This course is an in-depth scrutiny of the philosophy and empiricism of medical science. The nature of Medical Humanities is explored by debating issues affecting the human condition in general, and the illness experience in particular.
  • MHHS M595 Clinical Practicum in Medical Humanities, 3 cr. - The clinical practicum introduces graduate students to various aspects of clinical medicine including but not limited to doctor-patient interaction, qualitative research, ethics committee meetings and patient consultation, IRB processes, Grand Rounds, Morbidity and Mortality Conferences, Nursing, Medical Social Work and hospital chaplaincy.  Please note the alternative available to students who are already engaged in clinical practice.

Core Course, Medical Humanities Doctoral Minor (3 cr.)
