Minor in Palliative and Supportive Care
Due to advances in medicine and science, people are living longer with serious illnesses, requiring complex often fragmented care. Palliative care is a new philosophy of team-based care, with a goal to improve quality of life for patients and their families, at any age or stage of an illness and alongside curative treatments. This is one of the fastest growing areas of healthcare in the past decade, with a shortage of trained Palliative care team members and a need for widespread advocacy and community education.
This minor introduces the basic principles and skills required to become a Palliative care team member and would complement the resume of students from diverse disciplines across the university.
