Institutional Equity and Inclusive Excellence

Diversity is not something special or separate from IU South Bend's success as a whole; it is part of the central vision of the University. IU South Bend strives to create a climate of excellence, diversity, and inclusion for the campus community and to provide services to persons based upon their individual qualifications. Indiana University prohibits discrimination based on arbitrary considerations of such characteristics as age, color, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, genetic informaiton, marital status, national origin, race, religion, sexual orientation, or veteran status.

IU South Bend shall take affirmative action, positive and extraordinary, to overcome the discriminatory effects of traditional policies and procedures with regard to the disabled, minorities, women, and veterans. The University provides reasonable accommodations for disability and religion.

IU South Bend prohibits harassment on any of the protected basis listed above including racial harassment, religious harassment and sexual harassment.

Policy on Sexual Misconduct

IU South Bend prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex or gender in its educational programs and activities. Discrimination on the basis of sex or gender is also prohibited by federal laws, including Title VII and Title IX. The Sexual Misconduct policy governs the University’s response to discrimination based on sex or gender, and all forms of sexual misconduct (which includes sexual harassment, sexual violence, dating violence, domestic violence, sexual exploitation and stalking). Such behaviors are against the law and are unacceptable behaviors under IU South Bend policy. The University does not tolerate sexual misconduct and it will take action to prevent and address such misconduct. The University has jurisdiction over all Title IX and related complaints.
