General Information Student Confidentiality Statement Licensing Information Admissions of Persons Who Are Not Candidates for Degrees Graduate Advising at IU Southeast The School of Education at Indiana University Southeast offers master's degrees in education with majors in elementary education, secondary education, and counseling. In addition, the school offers graduate licensing programs in reading, certain areas of special education, kindergarten, Indiana elementary administrator and supervision, Indiana secondary administration and supervision, Kentucky K-12 administration and supervision, and Transition-to-Teaching (T2T). Students planning to pursue IUS master's programs or additional licensing programs are encouraged to follow carefully the program requirements outlined. The graduate programs at IUS comply with state and national accreditation guidelines. Those pursuing degrees or programs from other institutions should follow the counsel of the appropriate dean or program advisor at those institutions. Notice: Pursuant to campus and School of Education policy, no student convicted on a sex offense against children shall be eligible for School of Education course work or programs. Details can be found in the school office. Student Confidentiality Statement The IUS School of Education holds national (NCATE) and state (IPSB) accreditation. Following accreditation standards, all students enrolled in coursework in the IUS School of Education are evaluated on a range of performance-based assessments and informed of progress towards completion of their selected programs. Samples of student work are collected and/or copied for programmatic decision making and accreditation reviews. Student work, referred to as "intellectual property," will not be used for publication or presentation without the student's written consent. Student progress is assessed by contracted designees of the IUS School of Education who could include, but not be limited to, paid and volunteer participants such as campus faculty, K-12 teachers and administrators. The School of Education is charged with maintaining the confidentiality of all information obtained and recorded. For additional clarification, contact the School of Education office. Persons with questions about license renewal, expirations, and professionalization should contact the licensing office at (812) 941-2386. Admissions of Persons Who Are Not Candidates for Degrees A student who is not a candidate for a graduate degree in education or for any type of teaching, administration, or supervision license requiring undergraduate or graduate study or both may be admitted to certain graduate courses in education. A student who wishes to take courses at IUS to transfer to another school for a specific purpose can be admitted as a special graduate student through the School of Education Student Records Office.
Graduate Advising at IU Southeast Graduate students are strongly encouraged to meet with an advisor to go over program requirements. Please call Student Services at (812) 941-2386. The School of Education also holds several graduate advising sessions per year. For these dates, check the School of Education Web site www.ius.edu/Education. Changes in program requirements may be approved after an issue of the IUS Bulletin has been published but before the next issue is published. Because students may have to meet these new requirements, they are responsible for seeking regular advising and remaining apprised of program changes, particularly as such changes might affect eligibility for licensing. Admitted students who do not earn credit for course work at IUS during any one-year period may be required to meet the requirements as stated in the IUS Bulletin in effect when they resume their course work at IUS. Note: New changes in state (Indiana and Kentucky) licensing may affect the program. Please check with your advisor.
