Student Learning Outcomes
Bachelor of Science in History
The History degree program will train and equip students to do the following:
- Know the importance and critical perspective of historical knowledge for understanding contemporary society.
- Know basic facts, concepts, terms, and theories germane to historical study.
- Understand how people have existed, acted, and thought in the past in various regions of the world.
- Understand the nature of history as a discipline, including the existence of differing historiographical traditions and interpretations of the past.
- Be able to locate historical evidence and determine its quality, including both primary and secondary sources.
- Be able to read, evaluate, and interpret texts critically.
- Be able to research, describe, and explain a complex historical event in a coherent manner, employing the conventions and standards of the discipline.
