Bachelor of Science in Chemistry
Student who graduate with a B.S. in Chemistry will be expected to:
- Understand major concepts, theoretical principles and experimental findings in organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry and biochemistry.
- Exhibit problem solving and critical thinking skills relevant to the field of chemistry.
- Access, retrieve, and interpret accurate and meaningful information from the chemical literature.
- Communicate scientific information effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Work effectively in teams in both classroom and laboratory.
- Design, carry out, record and analyze the results of chemical experiments.
- Use instrumentation for chemical analysis and separation.
- Use computers in experiments, data analysis, and in communication.
- Understand and follow safety guidelines in chemical labs.
- Be aware of and abide by ethical standards in chemical discipline.
- Integrate knowledge from mathematics, physics and other disciplines in support of chemistry.
- Conduct research projects with supervision.
