Scholarships

The following scholarships have been established through donations to the Indiana University Northwest campus and directly through the university budget. Students who think they may qualify for any of these scholarships or need additional information pertaining to any of the following should contact the indicated office.

Freshman Scholarships

Various academic scholarships are awarded annually to freshmen enrolling full-time directly from a state-accredited high school. Most of these scholarships are renewable as long as certain academic criteria are met. Contact the Office of Admissions for details.

Awarded on a Non-competitive Basis

Chancellor’s Valedictorian—studentswho rank #1 in their graduating class. Award is for full tuition, fees and books.

Chancellor’s Salutatorian—studentswho rank #2 in their graduating class. Award is for full tuition and fees.

Special Academic—students who rank in the top 10 percent of their graduating class or have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 and SAT scores of 1100 on the critical reading (verbal) and math. Award is for full tuition.

Chancellor’s Merit – incoming full-time freshmen who come directly from high school to IU Northwest. Students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and SAT scores of 1000 on critical reading (verbal) and math. Award is for $1,000 annually, fall and spring semesters only.

Awarded on a Competitive Basis (Scholarship Application May Be Required)

Chase Scholarship—studentswho rank in the top 25 percent of their graduating class are eligible to apply. Preference given to African American and Hispanic students who reside in Lake or Porter counties. Performance on the SAT or ACT shall be given consideration. Award is for full tuition, mandatory fees, and books.

Baccalaureate/Medical Education—preference given to a student residing in or attending high school in an urban, medically underserved area of Indiana. Minimum cumulative GPA 3.5/4.0, and SAT scores of 1200 or higher, on critical reading (verbal) and math. Award is for full tuition and provisional admission to the IU School of Medicine.

Citizens Financial Services—provides a $1,000 scholarship to a freshman who resides in Lake, Porter, or LaPorte County.

City of Gary/IU Northwest Endowed—awarded to a recent high school graduate residing in the City of Gary. Minimum high school cumulative GPA 2.75. Financial need is a consideration.

Jim and Betty Dye—annual, full-tuition scholarship to student graduating from Griffith High School coming directly to IU Northwest. (Application information available at Griffith High School.)

Carl L. and David M. Kahn—student who is a full-time incoming freshman who ranks in the top 25 percent of his or her graduating class with excellent SAT scores.

Theatre Patron Scholarship—$500 awarded to an incoming freshman based on student’s audition and/or portfolio presentation.
