Honors Minor in Leadership

Any students enrolled in the IU Indianapolis Honors College or possessing a cumulative IU GPA of at least 3.5 may pursue the Honors Minor in Leadership.

Students must declare their intentions to receive a minor by completing an application online. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required in each credit-bearing course and students must maintain a 3.5 overall GPA.

Students admitted to the Honors Minor in Leadership will complete five courses/leadership learning experiences (15 credits). All courses must be completed for honors credit. Students must enroll in the Honors Portfolio course in their senior year. Due to the interdisciplinary intent of this program, no more than two courses (6 credit hours) can be in the same subject prefix.

Complete the following course:

  • SPEA-L 377 Foundations of Leadership (3 cr.)

Choose one course from at least three of the following leadership competency areas:

  • Leadership Communication (3-6 cr.)
  • Conceptual Leadership (3-6 cr.)
  • Community Leadership (3-6 cr.)
  • Applied Leadership Skills (0-6 cr.)

Complete the Honors Portfolio course:

  • HON-H 496 Honors Senior E-Portfolio (0-1 cr.)
