Public Health

Description of Program

With a minor in public health, you will be prepared to help promote and protect the health of people where they live, work, and play. You will learn and develop skills related to the disciplines of public health: epidemiology, social and behavioral health, public health policy, environmental health, and biostatistics. The coursework focuses on public health at the community level – planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating interventions that contribute to improving health equity and health outcomes across diverse populations.

Students wanting to declare this minor may do so in one of two ways:

Requirements

This undergraduate minor program is intended for students in degree programs other than the community health major, who wish to add public health to their studies. This minor requires:

  • successful completion of 15 credit hours prescribed below.
  • a minimum grade of C- in each course used in the minor.
  • a minimum cumulative minor GPA of 2.0.

Note: No course in this minor may be taken under the Pass/Fail Option.
