Recreation, Park & Tourism Studies
Description of Program
The Department of Recreation, Park, and Tourism Studies is a diverse group of colleagues dedicated to the improvement of the quality of life through leisure. We accomplish this by global academic leadership and excellence in the development and dissemination of a body of knowledge. We offer both undergraduate and graduate curricula. The undergraduate curriculum, leading to the B.S. in Recreation degree, prepares students for positions as recreation activity programmers, planners, and leaders; managers of facilities; supervisors; park and recreation resource managers; and specialists in such areas as tourism management, recreational therapy, public and nonprofit organizations, and outdoor adventure education. The graduate curriculum is for students preparing for careers in recreation, park, tourism and health service administration and management. In addition the doctoral curriculum prepares students for positions in higher education research and teaching.
