Admission Requirements
Master’s degree in organ and sacred music or its demonstrated equivalent. For additional information, see "Admission Requirements" in the Graduate Division section of this bulletin.
Major
36 credit hours
- Q900 Organ Graduate Major (12 cr.), concurrent with I500 Studio Masterclass (0 cr.)
- Q601 Doctoral Organ Recital (with at least 15 minutes of each recital from memory) (1-1 cr.)
- Q608 Doctoral Organ/Choir Practicum (1 cr.)
- I501 Departmental Masterclass (0 cr.), every semester
- M620 Doctoral Final Project (3 cr.)
Foundation Courses:
- M607 Survey of Organ Literature and Performance Practice I (3 cr.)
- M608 Survey of Organ Literature and Performance Practice II (3 cr.)
- C611 Service Playing I (2 cr.)
- C612 Service Playing II (2 cr.)
Foundation courses may be validated by exam or previously taken coursework at IU and replaced with courses from the list below. Students seeking to replace foundation courses by examination must do so before or within the first semester of enrollment.
