General Requirements for Bachelor's Degrees

Graduation with Distinction

The Jacobs School of Music recognizes outstanding academic achievement by awarding bachelor’s degrees with three levels of distinction: distinction, high distinction, and highest distinction. At each graduation, graduating seniors in each of the three bachelor’s degrees are selected for distinction, based on their cumulative grade point averages:

  • In each of the three separate degrees, highest distinction for averages of 4.00
  • In the Bachelor of Music degree, high distinction for averages between 3.95-3.99 and distinction for averages between 3.90-3.94
  • In the Bachelor of Music Education degree, high distinction for averages between 3.85-3.99 and distinction for averages between 3.75-3.84
  • In the Bachelor of Science degree, high distinction for averages between 3.90-3.99 and distinction for averages between 3.85-3.89
