Introduction

The Program in Animal Behavior (ABEH) encourages students to look at questions of brain, environment, and behavior from several disciplinary perspectives in order to encourage a fuller understanding of the factors influencing and constraining behavior.

The undergraduate minor will help students interested in animal behavior develop a background in ethnology, evolution, learning, and neuroscience; provide students with the language they need to transcend the boundaries of a single discipline; and give students an early opportunity to reflect on the consequences of different intellectual approaches to a single problem. Such students will be better prepared to join a scientific community that is just beginning to synthesize traditional research approaches in order to achieve a better understanding of behavior as an interface between genes and the environment, as well as a clearer conception of the relationships among brain, behavior, and evolution.

Undergraduate Minor in Integrative Study of Animal Behavior

Requirements
Six courses are required for an undergraduate minor in animal behavior.

To complete the proposed curriculum, students must complete one basic introductory course each from biology and psychology:
