Career Development and Student Employment

Career Services

Career services for IUPUI students are distributed so that each career office can specialize in the unique needs of its students. Students who are exploring careers or majors should utilize University College’s Academic and Career Development. Students should consult their school or career services if they are seeking assistance with resume and cover letter reviews, interview preparation, job offer negotiation assistance, or other career services focused on their next step after graduation. Students can access part-time, internship, and full-time opportunities by logging into the IUPUI job board at career.iupui.edu or through their school or career services. Learn more about the success of IUPUI graduates in moving on to careers, including employers and salaries, or on to further education by visiting career.iupui.edu/outcomes.

Internships

An internship is academically recognized, experiential learning that integrates knowledge and theory learned in the classroom with practical application and skills development in a professional setting. Internships provide opportunities for students to gain valuable experience and to demonstrate learning as they make professional connections and validate their choice of career field and work environment. Students who wish to be competitive for full-time employment after graduation need to complete at least one internship during college. Data from the IUPUI First Destination Survey show that graduates who had completed an internship were more likely to be working in a field related to their major and earning higher starting salaries.
