Program Planning and Counseling Guidelines
Students should be thoroughly familiar with the sections in this bulletin titled "General Requirements for Bachelor's Degrees", "Academic Regulations", and "Bloomington Education Programs."
Students should seek an appointment with an advisor on or before the dates established by the university calendar for academic counseling. In such conferences, students should, as a minimum objective, make certain that they understand the requirements for successful completion of the program requirements and that they have made an appropriate plan for the next semester.
Students should understand that the responsibility for keeping informed about program changes, establishing an appropriate academic program, and meeting every degree requirement rests with them; academic advisors are obligated only to assist students in meeting this responsibility. Each semester, students are responsible for monitoring their progress online or obtaining a copy of their Degree Audit Report from an advisor. Students needing clarification of any of the requirements for their bachelor's degree or of any information on their Degree Audit Report are urged to visit an academic advisor or the Recorder's Office in the School of Education.
Appeals Regarding Criteria for Admission, Retention, and Program Requiremtns
Students who wish to appeal decisions concerning admission to teacher education or retention in teacher education, or who seek a waiver for a requirement in a specific program, must follow this appeals process:
Before registering, students with a learning disability, hearing impairment, speech impairment, or any other disability that may affect their ability to fulfill a requirement of the school should contact the Office of Disability Services for Students, Franklin Hall 096, (812) 855-7578, for information about services and accommodations. Requirements will not be waived for students with disabilities. Some modifications may be available, however.
