Speech and Hearing Sciences

Minor in Speech and Hearing Sciences
Requirements

Undergraduates wishing to earn a minor in Speech and Hearing Sciences must complete a minimum of 21 credit hours in Speech and Hearing Sciences including the following requirements:

  1. Introductory Sequence. Complete both courses:
    • SPHS-S 106 Hearing Science: An Overview
    • SPHS-S 108 Speech and Language Sciences: An Overview
  2. Core Courses. Complete all courses:
    • SPHS-S 111 Introduction to Phonetics for Speech and Hearing Sciences
    • SPHS-S 201 Speech Anatomy and Physiology
    • SPHS-S 302 Acoustics for Speech and Hearing Sciences
    • SPHS-S 333 Childhood Language
  3. Topical Seminar. Complete one course:
    • SPHS-S 425 Topical Seminar in Speech Science
    • SPHS-S 427 Topical Seminar in Language Sciences
    • SPHS-S 429 Topical Seminar in Hearing Science
In fulfilling the above requirements, students must also meet all other College requirements for minors.
