Master of Science in Medical Science Program

The Master of Science in Medical Science (M.S.M.S.) Program at Indiana University School of Medicine was created in 1995 to enhance the preparation and confidence of its students to be successful in a medical curriculum. Students aspiring to careers in medicine at times require additional skill-building experience and an enhanced knowledge of learning strategies. Thus, this unique opportunity is for students from disadvantaged backgrounds. All eligible applicants are expected to complete and submit the program’s application for admission. The M.S.M.S. Program’s two-year academic experience includes 36 credit hours of didactic instruction, laboratory experience, problem-based learning, and guided research. M.S.M.S. students may choose to apply to medical school during their first or second year in the program but only students who complete the full 2-year academic curriculum will earn the M.S.M.S. degree. Students must achieve a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in order to earn the M.S.M.S. degree.

All admitted students must complete a ten-week intensive summer Medical College Admission Test Preparation Program offered at Indiana University School of Medicine before starting the graduate M.S.M.S. curriculum in the fall semester.
