Health Service
Health insurance coverage is mandatory for all IUSD students. Except for students who submit an approved waiver through Aetna, all IUSD students must carry the IUSD-approved health insurance plan.
Limited outpatient care on a fee-for-service basis is available to all full-time IUPUI students during weekdays through the campus-based IUPUI Health Services. For fee-for-service care after hours and on weekends, students should seek emergency treatment at Eskenazi Hospital, located immediately west of campus, or at another hospital or urgent care facility in the city. Emergency outpatient care is provided to students at no charge in the event of an injury occurring during performance of a training-related task within the dental school or at an associated facility.
IUSD students are required to be immunized for protection against a number of infectious diseases, and most of these immunizations must be completed before the student matriculates. Details pertaining to specific immunization requirements are sent by the School of Dentistry to all incoming students.
